Monday 16th September was my not so little girls 7th birthday, and with it falling on a school day we thought we would go out for tea as a birthday treat…
We opted for Toby Carvery, Edenthorpe.
We booked a table at 6:30pm for 5 people, 3 adults and 2 children at the below establishment;
Upon entering the building we were instantly greeted with a lovely smile from a male waiter called, Leon. He sat us down at our table and expressed birthday wishes to my daughter (this made her extremely happy).
With it being a special occasion, everyone, including the children decided on a three course meal from their new menu.
My daughter ordered, children’s Heinz Tomato Soup, Reduced salt. Served with wholemeal bread to start, and polished off the lot.
My son the Garlic bread (he had the option of cheese too but declined).
And my partner, myself and his daughter shared the New Taster Platter, consisting of:
Mini pigs in blankets, spicy southern fried chicken strips, cheesy garlic ciabatta, stuffing balls, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, served with gravy and BBQ sauce.
There was more than enough for 3 adults to share this as a starter, it was fantastic value for money and was so flavoursome!
In between the starter and mains there were a few toy machines that the children could play on with this being a family-friendly restaurant, so my daughter was content spending some of her birthday pennies.
Around 10 minutes after our starter, the children’s chicken nuggets and sweetcorn arrived, and we could help ourselves to mains from the carvery station.
We had a wide choice of food from a selection of 4 different meats (roast Gammon, Pork, Turkey or Beef), pigs in blankets, to a wide variety of vegetables including cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, peas, carrots, green beans, stuffing and yorkshire puddings, served with a rich beef gravy.
The meat was so succulent and yorkshire puddings perfectly crispy. Vegetables were cooked nicely as well, not too soggy or firm.
Now to mention my favourite part … PUDDINGS!
As you can see above, there was soooooo much to choose from, and our family live for dessert.
My partner went for the absolute classic… Knickerbocker Glory
Me, the Honeycomb Dream Sundae.
This contained so much honeycomb all the way through the sundae. They definitely didn’t cut back like most restaurants do.
My partners daughter, opted for the Millionaire Chocolate Brownie.
This looked amazing and she said:
It was the best brownie she had ever tasted!!!
At 21 years old, that’s a compliment I’d say.
The whole time we were here the waiter Leon, was extremely attentive and asking “how the birthday girl was” and if “she had enjoyed her day”, followed up with a high-five for my son as to not leave him out.
The whole meal was just over £50 and experience was very pleasant. We will definitely be revisiting.
For anyone with an upcoming occasion, young family, coffee and cake or lover of carvery – I would urge you to book a table here.
